More than 130,000 students and over 900 employers visited regional and local Fairs in their local area in the 2015/16 academic year.
Every fair is different - depending on where in the country it takes place, and the local organising team, but here are a few examples from events across the UK:
Near Me event organisers have the local knowledge and contacts to make sure each fair delivers a programme of activities aligned to the strengths and specialities of their region.
The Big Bang Near Me is host to inspirational scientists and engineers keen to inspire young people.
There are free careers workshops to visit and local companies on-hand to give insight into future careers, both nearby and beyond. They’re there to answer questions and enthuse the engineers and scientists of the future.
The Big Bang Near Me celebrates and raises the profile of young people’s achievements in science and engineering. Students, teachers and STEM clubs are invited to bring along and showcase the great projects they’ve been working on. They can talk to STEM professionals about their work, build their confidence and deepen their understanding of their subject.
There are many different competitions to enter and prizes on offer. The fairs host the regional
heats of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition and up to ten projects progress to the final, held at our national event annually in March - The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair.
Other prizes on offer at Near Me fairs include the CREST Awards, the Young Engineer for Britain awards, STEM Club prizes and other regional subject and skills specific prizes too.
