The Salter’s Company and London Metropolitan Archives
To celebrate “Fantastic Feats: The building of London” join the Salters’ Company and the London Metropolitan archives as we look to the streets to design our sky lines.
Students will have the opportunity to explore archives of Moorgate and the local area as they compare and contrast the past, the modern and the reasons behind it.
Students will explore the incredible brutalist building that is Salters’ Hall and its unique position in the city and its rich heritage.
With hands on activities students will become architects as they work as a team to design, draw and negotiate a new building. Students will have to think of the practical, the luxury and the impact of this new building in a working city. Using sketching and design they will create their very own blue prints.
Students will then take on the role of engineer as they construct their 3D model of their building. What will it take to make it stand and further to stand the test of time if it were to become part of the London skyline?
