There’s something for everyone! We have science and engineering hands-on activities all delivered by leading businesses, universities and others.  This year we are engaging with more local employers who will talk about STEM careers as well as showing young people how STEM is relevant in the workplace.

Last year we teamed up with local employers and organisations including Drax Power, Doosan, McCains GB Food, Dale Power Solutions, FERA, Nestlé, RAF, Army, Navy, York Potash Project, The York Merchant Adventurers, Partline, and the Rotary Club of York Vikings as well as our education partners Higher York Outreach Network, Askham Bryan College, York St John University, York College and many more…. This year we aim to make the event BIGGER and BETTER!

At the core of this event is a real celebration of achievement – we put young people at the heart of this event, displaying their ideas, whether STEM or Enterprise projects and prototypes created within education or outside to our expert judges recruited from business.  Last year over 100 projects were showcased and over 50 awards were presented to students at the event by our judges all sponsored by businesses and partner organisations.  Schools are invited to enter their student’s project work –  Why not have a look at some of the entries fron previous year’s  http://www.steminspirations.co.uk/events/2015.html

The event will also house STEM and Enterprise Challenges that have run in school over this academic year including the ever popular Solar Boat Challenge.

How can we be involved?

Schools and colleges are invited to attend the event as:

  • a visiting school and take part in the on the day activities/careers
  • bring along and showcase students STEM/Enterprise work, either their portfolio work that has been produced as part of GCSE or A Level coursework, STEM clubs, CREST, out of school or hobbies - any students who have a business idea or prototype will benefit from taking part in Inspirations 2017 – this year we have a Young Entrepreneur Award!
