Big Bang @ Solent returns for a third year, showcasing local Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Taking place on Thursday 26th April 2018, the event runs from 9am-3pm with exciting interactive activities for students aged 11-16.
Last year over 65 organisations participated; BAE Systems Maritime Services, Wartsila, IBM UK, Airbus, NATS, Leonardo and more ran activities to showcase their work.
There will be several main exhibitor areas; the Marine Zone, the Engineering Zone which will also house the Construction, Maths, IT/Technology and Science Zones and an outside area allocated for exhibitor’s vehicles. In previous years, this has included a gritting lorry, BT Openreach vehicles, a rib, Tigers team from British Army, a Science ‘Lab in a Lorry’ and a Royal Navy Lynx helicopter from HMS Sultan.
Throughout the event there will be a number of competitions and challenges, some which may provide prizes including Amazon and cinema vouchers, and promotional items to encourage students to ‘have a go’.
This event is supported by Engineering UK and Wartsila UK and is free for schools and groups to attend. Register your students so that they can see the dynamic and exciting world of STEM.
